1. Introduction

This Manual is published in accordance with Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2 of 2000 ("PAIA"), as amended by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA"). It explains the categories of records held by Mafa Technologies (Pty) Ltd ("the Company", trading as MatricMatch), and how to request access to those records.

A general Guide on how to use PAIA is available from the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

2. Body to Which This Manual Relates

MatricMatch operates an online platform that helps South African matric students calculate their Admission Point Score (APS) and identify university/TVET programmes they may qualify for. Revenue is generated through application assistance fees, banner advertising, and featured listings.

3. Information Officer

All PAIA requests and POPIA-related enquiries should be directed to:

Mafa Maketela (Director, Information Officer)
Email: mafa.maketela@matricmatch.co.za

4. How to Request Access to a Record

4.1 Form of Request

Requests must be made using the prescribed Form 2 under the PAIA Regulations (available from the Information Regulator, or on request from us), providing enough detail to identify the record, your contact details and proof of identity, and the form of access required.

Requests may be submitted by email to mafa.maketela@matricmatch.co.za.

4.2 Fees

Fees are prescribed by the Regulations Regarding Fees to be Paid in terms of PAIA. A request fee may apply for records of a private body (generally no fee for a data subject requesting their own personal information). Access/reproduction fees may apply once a request is granted. We will notify you of any applicable fee before processing a request that attracts one.

4.3 Response Time

We will respond within 30 days of receiving a valid request, as required by PAIA. This period may be extended once, by up to 30 further days, in circumstances permitted by PAIA, with written notice to you.

5. Categories of Records Held

The Company holds the following general categories of records:

Records containing your personal information are also governed by our Privacy Policy. In most cases, contacting the Information Officer directly is faster than a formal Form 2 request.

6. Grounds for Refusal of Access

Access may be refused in accordance with Chapter 4 of Part 3 of PAIA, including where a record contains third-party personal information, protected commercial information, privileged legal information, or where the request is frivolous, vexatious, or unreasonably resource-intensive. Where only part of a record is affected, the remainder will be disclosed if reasonably severable. Written reasons will be given for any refusal.

7. Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with our response to a request, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator:
